The upstairs family/playroom has been a work in progress. But, I am glad to finally be able to say that we are pretty much done with it! Thanks to a few Pinterest inspired ideas, this room is uniquely ours :) First to go was the wall color. Now, you all know that we LOVE the color orange just about as much as anyone could, but the old color of this room was just too much. So, we toned it down with a blue, mainly because our furniture looked awful against the orange walls.
Once the walls were painted, I found some fabric I loved and used it as inspiration for the rest of the decorations. These pillows were my first attempt at sewing. By the time I got to the fourth pillow, I had it all figured out ;)
Next, came Ays's toy wall. I love cubes. They help organize stuff in a way that looks, well, organized!
Next came the wall art. I couldn't find anything, anywhere, to put on the walls, so I just decided to make it. These are made of canvas, scrapbook paper, and decoupage. I truly had no idea if these would turn out, but they ended up looking pretty great:)
I made these playroom rules in Photoshop, printed them up, and then stuck them in a glassless frame. These would be my favorite part of the room, except we have one more addition to the room that is impossible to top...
This is Ays's loft!!!! How fun is this?!
We had this wasted space that I couldn't figure out what to do with. One day I ran across, a treehouse looking reading loft on Pinterest, and knew that a loft would be the perfect use of that space.
A big thanks to Papa Wiley for coming up with the blueprint and bringing this to life...it's so perfect!
Once it was constructed, I got busy decorating. This has really been a fun project, from the pillows, to the letters, to the book sling!
And of course, Ays loves it, and thinks it is the coolest thing ever.
Any time someone comes over, he has to take them upstairs and show them his space...he is so proud of it!
Now, its on to the next room ;)
