The Playroom

The upstairs family/playroom has been a work in progress.  But, I am glad to finally be able to say that we are pretty much done with it!  Thanks to a few Pinterest inspired ideas, this room is uniquely ours :)  First to go was the wall color.  Now, you all know that we LOVE the color orange just about as much as anyone could, but the old color of this room was just too much.  So, we toned it down with a blue, mainly because our furniture looked awful against the orange walls.

Once the walls were painted, I found some fabric I loved and used it as inspiration for the rest of the decorations.  These pillows were my first attempt at sewing.  By the time I got to the fourth pillow, I had it all figured out ;)

Next, came Ays's toy wall.  I love cubes.  They help organize stuff in a way that looks, well, organized!

Next came the wall art.  I couldn't find anything, anywhere, to put on the walls, so I just decided to make it.  These are made of canvas, scrapbook paper, and decoupage.  I truly had no idea if these would turn out, but they ended up looking pretty great:)

I made these playroom rules in Photoshop, printed them up, and then stuck them in a glassless frame.  These would be my favorite part of the room, except we have one more addition to the room that is impossible to top...

This is Ays's loft!!!!  How fun is this?!

We had this wasted space that I couldn't figure out what to do with.  One day I ran across, a treehouse looking reading loft on Pinterest, and knew that a loft would be the perfect use of that space.

A big thanks to Papa Wiley for coming up with the blueprint and bringing this to life...it's so perfect!

Once it was constructed,  I got busy decorating.  This has really been a fun project, from the pillows, to the letters, to the book sling!

And of course, Ays loves it, and thinks it is the coolest thing ever.

Any time someone comes over, he has to take them upstairs and show them his space...he is so proud of it!

Now, its on to the next room ;)

Easter

We had a great Easter!  This year Ays was super interested in hunting eggs, so that made it that much more fun!  Here he is checking out his goodies from the Easter Bunny :)  He had a Hot Wheels themed basket!

Hunting Easter eggs at our house

The one cute smiling pic I got from him!

Then we were off to Mamo & Dado's for another Easter egg hunt.

As you can see, he would have much rather been looking for eggs than posing for a family pic;)

And a group shot...Thanks Mamo & Dado for a great Easter lunch!

We ended our Easter Sunday with a trip to Wichita to visit my grandma.  No pictures from that trip because I know once she gets her strength back, which she will, she would take me down;)
Thank you too all of you who have been thinking and asking about her.  For anyone that knows her, it was really hard on her to not be in church on Easter Sunday, so we surrounded her with as much family as possible!  She is now recovering in a rehabilitation hospital in Wichita, and is getting stronger every day.  We know that she is a strong, independent lady and that if anyone can get through this...it will be her!  We love you grandma!!!!!!!!!!!

March For Babies

Lace up your walking sneakers...the Ponca City March for Babies Walk is just around the corner.  I'm getting a bit of a late start on this, but better late than never!

As you know, our family knows firsthand the challenges associated with prematurity. It is important to find out why premature birth happens and what can be done to prevent it. By raising money, ongoing research to answer these critical questions is funded. When you support our Family Team, you show you care and you give hope for defeating premature birth and other threats to babies.

We really hope you will join us on April 28th!  If you are planning to walk with us, click on the "walk with me" button in the March for Babies badge to the right.  Or just let me know and I will add you!  This is important, because we want to get credit for you being there!!!!  This walk is a bit shorter than the Bartlesville walk, and should be less hilly, so don't be scared ;)

If you  would like to donate, contributing to our team online is fast, easy and secure. You can donate directly from my personal webpage with a credit/debit card or PayPal. Just click on the donate button in the March for Babies badge to the right.  If you prefer, I can also accept cash or check.  All donations are tax deductible too!!!

If you have any questions, please give me a call.  We hope to see you there, to show our support for a great organization, and for our own little miracle man :)

Also, for all you exercise fanatics, April 28th is the Earth Day 5k!  This is a run that I am helping out with that supports Ponca City Mainstreet businesses.  It should be a great event!  So, why not just make a day of it...get your run on in the morning at the Earth Day 5k, then walk out those sore muscles at the March for Babies walk in the evening.

If you are interested you can go here to register online.
