How bout them Cowboys! Ayson had so much fun watching the game with us and Dave...in fact, the cowboys were so far ahead that he had time to model his new summer hat. Come 'on sun and heat! We are ready for you.
Check out little man's new shirt...haha! Love it!
He looks like such a big boy in his shirt and jeans. Watch out ladies...he's a heartbreaker for sure!
We also put Ayson's highchair together recently and have started feeding him his cereal there. He seems to enjoy it much more than eating in his bumbo, because he can lounge instead of sitting straight up. He's even got a little bit of dinner left on his face!
Once he is done eating; then it is our turn. He chills at the table with us while we eat our dinner. Eating at the table is a new thing for Aaron and I; we like to "lounge" and eat too :) But, we figured it was a good idea to start eating at the table, so Ayson will learn how to eat by watching us. For now though, he just plays while we eat...those links are way more interesting than we are ;)

Rollie Pollie
He finally did it...now we can't get him to stop! He has been rolling over to his side for over a month now, but would never get all the way over to his tummy and pop up on his elbows. Out of the blue last night night he decided to give it a try. I think he was just happy to have the heater working again :) He looked like he was going to roll over, so we had the camera out for about 30 minutes, but nothing. Literally, less than 5 minutes later, he rolled from his back to his tummy for the first time! Little Stinker! Luckily, he felt like showing off his new skill today.
Here he is hanging out in his bumbo

This and That and This
We got a fun little surprise after we got home on Monday afternoon...our heater decided to quit working. So, for the past few days we have been couped up in our bedroom with a space heater. It is nice and warm in our room, but it is 54 degrees in the rest of our house...YIKES! We should have it fixed today, hopefully! Ayson hasn't minded one bit though...he has enjoyed hanging out on our bed and sleeping in his pack n play :)
Ayson is also teething. This = not fun! Poor little guy will be happy one minute then screaming the next. He is slobbering all over the place and chewing on anything he can get his hands on...he even glasses aren't safe. Haha! He grabbed them of my face and they went straight to his mouth. Hopefully his first tooth won't take too long to break through, because we hate to see him hurting. In the meantime, we are getting really creative on ways to keep him happy :)
This is one his new favorite activities. He loves to put his elbows on his piano during tummy time. He plays all kinds of wonderful music for us!
This was before our walk the other day. His face cracked us up!

AC and George & Reba!
We've been pretty busy over the past week. We just got back from an extended weekend in AC! It was so great to go "home" for a few days because it has been nearly two months since we had been there. Friday night Ayson got to hang out with Grammy, Pops & Auntie A, while Aaron and I went to the George Strait & Reba concert with Papa Doug and Sharon! (Not sure who had more fun...him or us, because Ayson had Grammy & Pops convinced that his bedtime wasn't until after 11:00, so he got to stay up late!) Then, Ayson got to see all the greats on Saturday night. And on Sunday, he spent the day with papa Doug, and also got to see Aunt Jenny, Uncle Michael, Kierslynn, Memaw Dorothy, Hope, Jessie and Lance...so many people who love our little guy! We had such a great time!!!!

Our Funny Valentine
We are having the best day hanging out with our little Valentine. He is starting to feel better after his vaccinations and is finally back to his smiley self.
We have read his book from Grammy and Pops several times already :)
Look what Mr. strong legs can do! We couldn't believe it. He stood there hanging on to the ottoman for quite a while. Standing is his new favorite thing...we are pretty sure he is going to walk before he crawls.
Ayson also got a visit from Gage and Maria yesterday. He had fun showing off his smile and cute little laugh.
This was our breakfast this morning...isn't it so cute! We almost didn't want to eat it because it was so pretty :)

Six Month Check-up
Ayson had his six month check-up this morning. Everything went really well. Dr. Gordon was very pleased with his progress. She couldn't believe how good his muscle tone was, and said she thought he would be walking by a year...even though he was over 2 months early! She is also pretty sure his eyes will be staying blue...yay! He also received his last round of immunizations until he is a year old. Since he is 6 months old, he could also get a flu shot. We were really happy that he was finally able to get one, as it will further protect him from getting sick. We are still supposed to keep him isolated until mid-April...but hey, that's just right around the corner :)
He weighed 13lbs 8ozs and was 24.5in long...tall and skinny! That means he gained 3lbs and grew 3 inches in two months! His head also grew from 39.75cm to 42 cm. On the adjusted scale which compares him to premature babies born less than 3lbs, he is in the 50th percentile for weight, 75th percentile for length, and 75th percentile for head circumference. Moving up the growth chart :) On the normal scale for 6 month olds, he has actually made it on the chart for head circumference at the 9th percentile :) We may actually register on the normal chart for length and weight at the next visit in 3 months!
Sitting up all by himself! Such a big little man :)

Cereal!!!!
Today marked another first for little man. He got his first taste of big boy food! We started him on rice cereal, and it went pretty well. He wasn't too sure about it, but he did manage to eat a little bit. We honestly had more fun watching his facial expressions than he did eating it :) Dinner time just got a lot more messy!
Every time the spoon got close to his mouth, he followed it until his eyes crossed...too funny!

Splish, Splash
I couldn't resit snapping a few pics during bath time last night. Ayson loves his baths. He always gets a story during bath time, then we let him splash around for a little bit. We love this pic because you can see his pretty blue eyes and how long his eyelashes are getting.
We have recently been letting him spend a little time on his tummy in the tub, and he really likes it! He likes to look around, and take it all in. You can see how high he can hold his head up now...not to mention his cute lil' baby butt ;)
I'm sure he'll be thanking me for this pic in about 18 years...it has graduation/wedding slideshow written all over it!!!

Playdate
Yesterday, Ayson's friend Braeden and his mommy, Sheri came over to play :) These two special little guys have a lot to talk about when they get together. Braeden is a preemie too, so they like to swap NICU stories :) Braeden was born at 30 weeks, just like Ayson...he has been home now for 1.5 months and is growing like a rockstar!!!! He almost weighs 9lbs now...such a big boy!
Too cute...Ayson put his arm on B's shoulder :)

Little Entertainer
Mr. Personality has been entertaining us a lot lately! He is constantly chattering away...and has discovered blowing spit bubbles. It might be his new favorite activity...such a boy!
He is also developing some great "fine motor skills" :) He has discovered how to spin one of his toys on his jumperoo. He loves to spin it, watch it spin, then do it all over again...a genius no doubt ;)
And finally, because this can never get old, he still reacts this way. So hilarious!

Neonatal Follow-up Appointment
Ayson had an appointment at the Neonatal follow-up clinic yesterday. This is a specialized clinic where several professionals follow-up on preemies during one appointment. Ayson was seen by a developmental psychologist, audiologist, case worker, physical therapist and a neonatologist/developmental pediatrician. As Ayson grows he will also be seen by a speech pathologist. The idea is to put all these professionals in one location so that the parents and baby do not have to go to several different appointments. It also allows the doctors to communicate with each other to come up with collaborative treatment options, if needed.
Ayson got great reports from everyone that saw him. He is exceeding expectations in motor skills, putting him in the 70th percentile! They were very impressed with how aware he is of his surroundings and new people, and also impressed with his muscle tone. Good news all around!!!! This was a clinic that Aaron did a rotation with in November, so it was cool for him to go back and be on the "other side" of things :) Ayson also weighed 12lbs 12ozs! Can you believe he's now more than 4 times his birth weight...quite the little grower!
Aaron was on call last weekend, and missing us (ok, missing Ayson), so we went to see him for a little while. Daddy even had time to read little man one of his favorite books.
